Evaluation Question 3: FEEDBACK

Film Trailer

The screenshot above depicts the moment I asked my peers to watch my film trailer, Welcome To Eden. Once they had viewed my trailer, I than asked for their personal feedback and thoughts on my film trailer and I was very pleased with their reactions as they all gave such positive feedback.

Poster

The screenshots below show the stages of my poster where I had to get feedback and opinions of others in order to achieve the best and most ideal poster for my trailer. I had massive difficulty with choosing the correct poster credits so that it is clear to read and stands out.

The screenshot on the right shows the red version, where I trialled the red coloured writing. However, through feedback, I learnt that the red writing clashed with the red coat worn by the character, Ular Kadir.

The screenshot on the left shows the white, red, white version. This worked better and was clearer to read, however, through feedback I was told it doesn't looking very appealing and looks unprofessional. Therefore, I accepted their advice and continued to play around with the colour.

The screenshot on the right shows the blue version. This was successful in terms of reading capability. But, through feedback I was informed it is very dark and takes the attention away from the rest of the poster.

The screenshot on the left shows the white version. The colour worked well alongside poster and was not as eye-catching as the blue. But, through feedback I was told that you cannot read the white on top the white shirt worn by the character, Adam.

Filming

Dinner Scene:

Before Feedback - The lighting was criticised as the scene apparently appeared too dark and the camera struggled to focus in the lighting.

After Feedback - We increased the lighting and included an assisted camera lighting attachment in order to achieve focus and quality light.

Stealing Scene:

Before Feedback - The mise-en-scene was criticised as the cafe was originally unnaturally empty and did not even look like a cafe but instead looked like a school canteen.

After Feedback - We reshot at a low-angle point of view to disguise the school canteen location and we requested volunteers who happily wanted to fill space and achieve a natural cafe environment.

Flower Scene:

Before Feedback - The filming did not capture the reaction shot of Adam effectively. It was criticised that the audience wanted to see a reaction of Adam.

After Feedback - We attempted an audacious camera shot utilising reflections from a window. The camera focus' on Ular and Eve's affectionate interaction, and then readjusts its focus on the reflection of Adam on the inside of the window.

Moving In Scene

Before Feedback - The poor sound quality was criticised as there was a lot of interference with the wind and traffic. Furthermore, you could also see the reflection of the camera in Ular's sunglasses. Plus, we attempted a fake moustache on Ular but it looked fake and was rather off putting.

After Feedback - We used a microphone on the camera and we used this for every scene afterwards. We also decided to shoot the scene from a slightly different angle in order to achieve a better scene. Plus, we removed the moustache from all scenes onwards.

Shopping Scene

Before Feedback - For this scene after we filmed we were told that the actress for Eve had her car keys hanging out of her pocket and it made the whole scene look highly unprofessional.

After Feedback - So we decided to refilm this scene and ensure there were no objects obstructing and distracting the audience's attention.

Argument Scene:

Before Feedback - The acting in this scene was a focal point that was criticised. We attempted an argument scene with a dialogue included but both Adam and Eve froze under pressure and it appeared very jumpy and illegitimate.

After Feedback - We concentrated more on our physical actions rather than verbal as we removed the dialogue as we felt it removed the momentum of the trailer.

Happy Scene

Before Feedback - We were gladly told that people found this scene aesthetically pleasing and was a very feel-good scene. The location was credited as were the costumes.

MAGAZINE COVER

When deciding the font for my magazine cover, I found it difficult deciding which one I liked most. Therefore, I decided to get some feedback from my peers and where it says 'yes' is one of the options my friends chose and where it says 'hi' is another one another friends choosing which one they like most. This made it easier for me to eliminate certain fonts.

As a result, I chose to font type: Wawati SC Regular where it says 'yes hi' as both my peers liked that one, and so did I so it felt like the right choice.

The image below shows my peer looking through the different fonts and having her input.
