MY FILM POSTER

Final Poster

Poster Analysis

In class with my group I analysed a wide range of film posters. We had a lot of fun and shared a lively debate over the class' collection of old film posters such as, The Book of Eli, Sherlock Holmes and Star Trek.

I undertook close textual analysis of two film posters: Noah and Twilight

  1. You examined film posters to understand genre conventions, & deconstructed 2 examples. You offer evidence of drafting and feedback. This poster makes an eye-catching statement & looks realistic. The central image is well chosen & composed: three shot of the trio of protagonists wrapped in each other's arms & the antagonist turned away, with trademark dark glasses & flamboyant leopard skin hat & lurid red fur coat connoting his sinister side. The heroine's arm rests on her boyfriend in a madonna-like gesture of uncorrupted innocence whilst the very powerful sky above resembles a celestial spotlight catching the couple in its glare & suggesting the villain's superpowers. The beams radiate form the title, drawing the eye very strongly, and emphasising the narrative framework of the Biblical backstory. The poster contains all required conventions (title, tagline, billing block, principal actors, release info, social media). A pin-sharp striking image.
